The minds behind Flip and a number of Apple products comes together and creates a vape pen that can be used to smoke dry herbs as well as wax? It got us curious, so we checked it out. Compared to the previous version, this one is a lot smaller, cleaner, and better looking. For all intents and purposes, it also works better. The only issue though was that, the first one was not much of a vape pen. There are a number of brands making great vape pens in the market right now, but if you are looking for a bit of exclusivity and looking to move up in the market for a premium product, this one is sure to be on the list. At nearly $350, it is not cheap, but for that money, you are getting quite a few things. Design The first, most obvious thing about the design of the pen is that it is all function over form. There are no fancy, unnecessary styling cues. All you get is a simple, solid rectangular, box. There is a small circular hole at the top shielded by a magnetic cover. That is where you load your herbs, or wax. Apart from that, there are a few lights and buttons on either side. The mouthpiece goes at the bottom. The design is really clean. It feels like the premium product it is. Features The device comes with a spare battery, cleaning equipment and charging cables. Most of the controls are through a mobile app, and they are intuitive and easy to navigate. You can set up everything from button controls to heat levels in the app. Vaping experience The battery is quite average as it allows for about 5 to 6 sessions of 8 to 10 full drags per session. You can swap out the battery, but it may not be suitable for sharing with a friend. The best way to use this device will be to take slow, long draws. The vapors themselves are truly exceptional. It provides every draw with a clean, smooth, tasty quality that is really satisfying. As a convection vape, it does its job better than expected. The quantity it makes use of is also limited to about half a gram. While using wax, you need to place it on a small aluminum disc like mesh provided. It all works as expected and the system is a breeze to get up and running. It is also a built well. It stays cool to the touch even after repeat sessions. The final verdict- should you buy it?While it receives a thumbs up from us, there are a few niggles that may cause some people to stray away from the Firefly 2 If you are a first timer, there are products out there that perform just as well for much less. If you, however are a person that values craftsmanship and is willing to pay a premium, go for it.
