Embrace the KAOS?

Hello, Vape Nation! There has been a lot of hype surrounding the subject of this blog post. The KAOS Spectrum by Sigelei has been one of the most "in your face" mod releases, as of late, seen all over every facet of social media. This highly anticipated and top selling mod has gained major traction with its color change function. So lets dig in and see if it lives up to the buzz its created.

First Unboxing and Specs:

Upon opening your KAOS Spectrum you will have the mod itself, a USB charger, a user manual, and a warranty card. Product specifications include the color screen. Wattage range of 10W-230W. Temperature range of 100 degrees Celsius to 300 degrees Celsius or 200 degrees Fahrenheit to 570 degrees Fahrenheit. Voltage input of 6.4V-8.4V and an output of 1.0V-7.5V. Maximum output current of 34 amps. Requires two 18650 batteries (not included), and its recommended that you use authentic LG/Sony/Samsung 40A high drain batteries or any other reputable brand. It comes with various modes including Power/SS/Til/Ni200/TCR. It has a resistance range of 0.1 ohms to 3.0 ohms and supports Kanthal, Titanium, Ni200, SS, TCR coils. The USB cable is for charging and future upgrades as they become available. At first glance, I thought the Spectrum was similar, aesthetically, to the Smok Alien 220w. Mind you, these are two totally different companies, and any similarities are more than likely a coincidence. Its just something I noticed due to the shape of the LED strip that surrounds the front of the Spectrum. Very small similarity.

Use and Functions:

Once you have your Spectrum out of the box and in your hands the fun begins. You insert your batteries, and the Sigelei logo will pop up. As is common with most mods, you will click the fire button five times in quick succession to turn the power on and off. This mod is a little bit different because it doesn't have all the bells and whistles most mods have today as far as a complicated menu. It functions very easily while still being a completely innovative device. You can breeze through setting this up fairly easily. While the device is on you quick press the fire key three times to enter your menu. You will have two prompts to choose from. Power TCR mode and Color Mode. To pick from these use the + or - button and then click the fire button to pick where you go from there. For example, if you go into your Power TCR menu you will be presented with the options of power mode (wattage), SS mode, Til mode, Ni200 mode, and TCR mode. These choices are based on your coil preferences. TCR is for do it yourself coils, SS is for stainless steel coils, Til is for Til coils, and Ni200 is for Ni200 coils and these choices are only for Temperature Control mode. I tend to stay in Power mode or wattage. To get into the color mode you will also click the fire button three times quickly and use the - button to go down to Color Mode and hit the fire button to choose it. That will bring up six color choices (blue, yellow, red, teal, purple, and green). Once you have made your color choice hit the fire button again to nail it down. When you do that you will be taken to another menu that will prompt you to choose "when using", "always on", "light off". If you pick "when using" the light will stay on only when the device is in use and until the screen turns off. If you choose "always on" the light stays on even when the device isn't in use or off. If you choose "light off" the light will not turn on even if you have made a color choice. I keep mine set to "when using".

The Screen:

The KAOS Spectrum has a generous screen that is organized with all the internal facts going on in your device. If you are using it in Power Mode your wattage will be the largest thing displayed on the screen. To the side of that you have your ohms, input and output voltage, amps, and battery percentage along with a battery display. If you are using your device in TC mode then the Temperature will be displayed where the wattage would be.

Final Thoughts and Opinions:

This is truly a stand alone device. The biggest selling point that has people excited about this mod is its color function. Its like a rave on your mod. A feature that I love. Seems like a small selling point, but its not. Vaping is a very personal experience, and its great that someone thought to release a product that you can personalize to match your mood or even your outfit, if your girly like me. This is also a great function for people who want to take photos matching their mod color to whatever they are taking pictures with but cant have a mod in every possible color. This takes vaping to a new level of personalization and is the highlight of this device. I, personally, would have loved a multicolor or strobe feature. That's the only thing I can think of that would have made this even more epic. Aside from that, the ease of use is the next best thing about the KAOS. You don't have to peruse through 40 different menus and functions to use it. Its complexity and desirability lies in its simplicity, and that's something I can get behind. So, should you embrace the KAOS? There is a short answer to that...yes! This mod has become a daily go to for me, and it does live up to the hype surrounding it. Any vaper would definitely enjoy having this in their collection.
